HorseSense Science Academy

HorseSense Science Club is an engaging, hands-on STEM program for students in grade 5 that transforms a horse rescue into a living science laboratory. Through interactive investigations, students explore life science, engineering, ecology, weather, animal health, and scientific inquiry while working alongside rescued horses and discovering the unique Sonoran Desert ecosystem. Aligned with Arizona Science Standards, this 8-week, 90-minute program encourages curiosity, critical thinking, teamwork, and compassion, inspiring young scientists to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences.

Program Format

The HorseSense Science Academy is designed for 5th-grade classrooms and provides an immersive, hands-on STEM learning experience that brings science to life through rescued horses and the Sonoran Desert environment.

Each academy is designed to accommodate up to 30 students and is typically offered as an 8-week series, with 90-minute sessions held on Fridays. Every lesson builds upon the previous week's learning, allowing students to develop scientific knowledge and inquiry skills through engaging, real-world experiences.

We understand that every school has unique scheduling needs. While the 8-week Friday format is our recommended model, we are happy to work with your school to customize the schedule and delivery of the program whenever possible, ensuring it best supports your classroom and educational goals.

Cost

$25.00 per student per session and $10.00 per student for materials.  Schools can opt to print their own student materials to reduce costs.  $25.00 fee waived for Title I schools.
